I am pleasantly surprised at how well my tomato plant, that is growing in a Whole Foods reusable grocery bag, is doing. I was concerned that the bag wouldn't hold up to sun and rain, but after many weeks, it still looks almost new.

One of the keys to growing tomatoes in any container is to make sure you give them a consistent level of moisture. Container gardens have a tendency to dry out quickly, so you really have to be vigilant about keeping your soil damp. At this time of year, as the tomato plants get big and start producing fruit, they really suck up the water, so sometimes you'll have to douse them twice a day.

You can grow almost any vegetable or flower in a reusable grocery bag. Here are step by step instructions for growing lettuce in a small Whole Foods reusable grocery bag.
