Anemone in a Mason Jar

David Perry is one of my favorite photographers. His forceful, yet gentle images have an uncanny way of showing the very soul of whatever he is shooting - from an oyster, to a bouquet of roses to a B-1 Bomber.
David also has a very groovy website where he shares musings and photos that are always worth checking out for both education and inspiration.
David has been experimenting with using glass jars as a way of getting interesting macro pictures from point and shoot cameras. I thought I would experiment with his technique and this is one of the pictures I came up with. It's the last anemone in my container gardens, shot using a large mason jar.
This month, on the fantastic website, Gardening Gone Wild, David Perry explains mason jar photography. He is also judging a photo contest using this technique. Check out Macro in a Mason Jar.

Hey, Kerry, thanks for mentioning Gardening Gone Wild and this month’s “Picture This!” contest. I can’t wait to see the entries—especially if they’re anything like your gorgeous shot of the anemone. And I MUST get around to trying David’s jar technique myself. (Why is it that fun stuff gets shoved to the back burner?)
Oh Kerry, Bravo!!! Now I KNOW I have some VERY stiff competition. Wonderful shot you got there!!!
Thanks Debra. I keep meaning to try some succulents in the bottom of a mason jar. Maybe we’ll both try that. Oh and don’t shove the fun stuff to the back burner – it’s a life’s short, eat desert first kind of thing!
Christina – Your photo on Gardening Gone Wild is amazing – beautiful! As are your spectacular containers and photos of them.
Exquisite!
