I am a chronic slayer of houseplants. However, I also love them madly and am committed to having them because I believe - and there is research to back me up - that plants are not only good for the air, they are also good for the soul. Though I don't know of any studies that have covered the soul part, there is evidence that houseplants make people happier and more productive.
Anyhow, I'm a huge fan of air plants. I love their weird and wonderous forms and the fact that they can, well, live on air and water. There is something elegant about many tillandsias and I love them inside glass. Even though I've been told they do better in circulating air, I've had tillandsias last pretty well inside terrariums.
I recently discovered the Air Plant Supply Company on Twitter and ordered up a bunch of tillandsias as a gift for my mom. They plants were very reasonable, priced between $3-$8, and the quality was fantastic.
Here are a couple of links for what I've done with air plants.

Thanks Jan! Air plants fascinate me.
I have found them to be equally as fascinating and addictive. Inexpensive and require no soil. Thanks Kerry for all the info and links.
