Living Flower Arrangement for Mom

I love giving my mom container gardens for mother's day (ok, not a big surprise there). Making her a gift brings back so many memories and I know with my own kids, anything they make--no matter how flawed--touches my heart in a way that bought things simply cannot.

So this year I'm going to give her a living flower arrangement. I don't call it a container garden, because it will only flower for a limited time, but it last much longer than cut flowers. I got this basket for a couple of dollars at a flea market, lined it with moss, then a plastic bag (to keep in moisture), added some potting soil and then stuffed it with schizanthus and pansies.

Shhhh.....don't tell her.
