Red Foxes

When I pulled into my driveway the other day, right in front of me, standing next to a group of container gardens was a beautiful, blonde, fluffy-tailed red fox. He saw me and did that thing that foxes do that I love and cracks me up--he sprang straight up into the air with all four feet at the same level. Like his legs were on springs.
Then he ran around to the side of the house and into the wood. I walked around and there he was crouching with his face framed perfectly by some leaves. We stared at each other for several minutes.
I love the foxes and am incredibly grateful to them that they seem to have solved (knocking on wood frantically here) my woodchuck problem. I haven't seen a single woodchuck this year and I have pumpkins blooming which is usually crack to woodchucks.

Amazing! Sounds like he’s getting used to you. What a priveledge to see the usually hidden behavior.
