I am trying to prune ruthlessly. Not my plants, but how many plants I will bring in for the winter. I have only so much room and am not willing to share it with plants I don't love. However the problem is, there are very few of my plants I don't love, so if I use that for my triage criteria, my house will once again be stuffed to the rafters with plants.
I will compost any annuals that I can't winter over. I'll collect lots of cuttings from several of the coleus I absolutely love and will attempt to keep my hibiscus and fuchsia limping along through the winter.
Fruit trees, despite last year's spider mite infestation will come in, though if the mites come back, I have promised myself that I will get rid of the plants. Some battles are just not worth fighting.
Herbs I will either dry or freeze. Not many would survive with the amount of light I can offer them.
What plants are you over wintering?
