The trick with any container garden is to let excess water out and keep the soil in. For this container garden you can easily make a liner with newspaper. To make a liner, place newspaper over bottom and side holes and fold it to fit the box. This will keep soil from falling out of the bottom and the newspaper will help the soil retain moisture. You can also use bubble wrap or plastic, which you will need to punch holes in for drainage.
